Man Poses As Store Manager, Steals Cash by; Rick McCann

Carlisle Pa. Oct. 22, 2007

Carlisle Borough police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man they say used a key to steal about $3,000 from Wal-Mart during business hours last Friday.
“He had a key,” said Lt. Michael Dzezinski of the suspect, who was captured on video surveillance between 8 and 10:30 p.m. “He walked in wearing khaki pants and a shirt that was similar in appearance to that of a manager.”
Dzezinski said the man used the key to open multiple register drawers that were not in use and take the cash.
“We know that there was one similar incident in Chambersburg, and we’re investigating the possibility that it is happening in Maryland as well,” he said.
Wal-Mart contacted police about the theft on Wednesday, police said. They have released an image of the suspect that appears to show a middle-aged white male wearing a short-sleeved shirt.

Investigators and loss prevention agents are questioning employees, customers and reviewing multiple recordings to see if anyone has further information or if the tapes show a vehicle that the suspect entered after leaving the stores.
